Individual therapy for people who understand their patterns but still struggle to respond differently in the moment.
You may understand your triggers.
You can recognize the pattern afterward.
You know what a healthier response would look like.
And still...
the reaction happens before you feel like you had a choice.
Looking composed and feeling steady aren't always the same thing.
“I look like I'm doing fine, so why don't I feel fine?”
Looking okay isn't the same as feeling okay. You may appear capable, responsible, productive, or composed while working incredibly hard internally to keep everything together.
The Performance Mask describes the version of yourself you may have learned to present when it doesn't feel safe, or acceptable, to show what's happening underneath.
“I'll finally feel okay when…”
When life settles down.
When I accomplish the next thing.
When they respond differently.
When I stop making mistakes.
When I finally become who I think I'm supposed to be.
But the finish line keeps moving.
The Perpetual Carrot describes the tendency to place peace, confidence, worth, or permission to feel okay just beyond the next condition.
The goal isn't to stop wanting more for yourself.
It's to stop requiring the next thing before allowing yourself to be okay now.
“I shouldn't feel this way.”
“It's not that big of a deal.”
“Other people have it worse.”
Sometimes we learn to leave ourselves out of the equation.
“I'm overreacting.”
“It isn't that serious.”
“I shouldn't feel this way.”
“I'll just deal with it.”
Self-dismissal happens when you minimize or invalidate what you're experiencing.
Self-abandonment happens when you repeatedly override your feelings, needs, boundaries, values, or internal signals and experience to maintain connection, avoid conflict, meet expectations, or keep everything functioning.
STEADY™ helps you learn to notice yourself without automatically dismissing or abandoning yourself.
Instead of trying to silence your thoughts, the STEADY™ Path helps you to understand them, regulate your nervous system, and develop new ways of responding.
Healing isn't about eliminating every anxious thought.
It's about creating enough stability that your thoughts no longer control how you live.
The STEADY™ Path helps individuals move through:
Overwhelm → Awareness
Reaction → Purposeful Choice
Self-Doubt → Self-Trust
Emotional Reactivity → Intentional Response
The goal isn't to become a different version of yourself. It's to understand yourself well enough to respond with greater intention.
Insight matters. But insight and regulation aren't the same thing.
You may already know where a pattern came from. You may recognize your triggers. You may even know exactly what you wish you had done differently. And still find yourself reacting the same way when the moment comes.
STEADY™ helps move the work from simply understanding the pattern to practicing what happens inside the moment when the pattern begins.
Your STEADY™ pathway may include:
STEADY™ may be appropriate for adults experiencing:

I developed STEADY™ after repeatedly seeing people who had tremendous insight into themselves but still struggled to access that insight when emotions became intense.
STEADY™ brings together understanding, emotional regulation, intentional practice, and reflection to help clients create more space between what they feel and what they do next.

Not exactly.
STEADY™ can support people experiencing anxiety, overthinking, and worry, but the work goes beyond reducing anxious thoughts. We also explore emotional regulation, nervous system responses, self-trust, people-pleasing, boundaries, self-dismissal, and the patterns that can make it difficult to respond differently in the moment.
No.
You do not need an anxiety diagnosis to benefit from STEADY™. You may simply recognize that you overthink, become overwhelmed, shut down, second-guess yourself, or struggle to respond the way you want to when emotions become intense.
That's a great place to begin. Knowing your triggers is different from being able to access that understanding when you're activated. STEADY™ helps you move from recognizing your patterns afterward to practicing new ways of responding while they are happening.
STEADY™ isn't only for people whose emotions show on the outside. Shutting down, going numb, withdrawing, avoiding conflict, or struggling to find your words can also be ways of responding when something feels overwhelming. We can work with those patterns too.
Yes. Difficulty setting boundaries and people pleasing can sometimes involve overriding your own needs, feelings, or internal signals to maintain connection or avoid discomfort. STEADY™ can help you notice these patterns, strengthen your connection to your own voice, and practice responding with greater intention.
Yes, but STEADY™ isn't only about collecting more coping skills. You'll practice strategies for regulation while also learning to understand what is happening beneath your reactions, recognize patterns earlier, and create more space for intentional choices.
STEADY™ offers a focused 6-session pathway and a more in-depth 12-session pathway. The right path depends on what you're experiencing, what you've already worked through, and the level of support you need. We can discuss which may be the better fit during your consultation.
Yes. STEADY™ can be provided through secure online individual therapy for clients located in states where Dr. Janeisha is authorized to practice. Your complimentary consultation is a good place to confirm availability for your location and discuss whether online therapy is a good fit.
